For centuries\, it has been a canvas for expression\, a source of pride\, and a target of misunderstanding. With Crown\, we reclaim that narrative\, focusing on the joy\, love\, and artistry that Black hair represents. This exhibit is a celebration of how Black people’s magic and culture continue to shape the world. It’s a love letter to our legacy and a testament to our power.” \n \nCrown is more than an exhibit—it is a celebration of identity\, heritage\, and creativity. Through photography\, storytelling\, and community engagement\, we invite audiences to experience the magic and cultural significance of Black hair \n \nArtwork image by Najee Brown

SUMMARY:Acoustic Sound & Vocal Alchemy Workshop WITH CHAR WILLINGHAM
DESCRIPTION:Using the vibrational intonation of sound as a modality of wellbeing is one of many holistic approaches to balancing the whole body. The oscillations in sound and music can stimulate and send calming waves through the nervous system\, cells\, tissues\, and organs—while simultaneously balancing and inspiring harmony between the body\, mind\, and spirit. The beautiful tones produced by singing bowls invite a heightened state of consciousness while invoking a deep state of relaxation as the listener/observer transitions into a mindful state\, similar to meditating.

SUMMARY:For Love! For Liberty! A New Musical Comes to Lexington April 11 at 7 pm
DESCRIPTION:LEXINGTON\, Mass. — For Love! For Liberty! a new musical celebrating courage\, sacrifice\, and the birth of the American Revolution will come to Lexington for one day\, Saturday\, April 11. \nBlending original music\, dance\, and powerful storytelling\, For Love! For Liberty! bridges centuries as middle-school history students help the U.S. Park Service bring the past to life.  \nAt the heart of the musical is the true story of Henry Knox\, a young Boston bookseller who in the winter of 1775–1776 undertook an almost impossible mission: hauling sixty tons of cannon across frozen lakes and snow-covered mountains to save the struggling American Revolution. \nThe production also shines a light on the remarkable woman\, Lucy Knox\, who defied her loyalist family\, sacrificed her fortune\, and sustained Henry’s courage through letters and cake. \nFilled with memorable songs\, lively choreography\, and engaging historical characters\, the show is designed to inspire audiences of all ages while illuminating one of the most dramatic moments in Revolutionary history. The show had its world premiere in January 2026 and brought to Lexington as part of the MA 250 Revolutionary celebration and the Scottish Rites Masonic Museum and Library’s 50th anniversary.  \nFamilies\, history lovers\, and community members are encouraged to attend this unique theatrical experience that brings the American Revolution vividly to life. \nEvent Details:\nFor Love! For Liberty!\nSaturday\, April 11\n4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.\nScottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library 33 Marrett Road\, Lexington\, MA 02421

SUMMARY:The Odyssey: A Two-Person Play WITH POORNIMA KIRBY & STEPHEN COLLINS
DESCRIPTION:What is the cost of our choices? Can love sustain across time\, war\, and distance? Can you ever really find your way home? \nJoin actors Stephen Collins and Poornima Kirby as they take on this three-thousand-year-old epic about the adventures of a wily and complicated traveler. This two-person\, one-hour adaptation draws from multiple translations\, punctuated with poetry and sea-chanties to connect this age-old epic to our modern time. Told as a marital squabble between Odysseus and his wife\, Penelope\, the story weaves through Odysseus’ travels and to his arrival in Ithaca to face the fall-out of his absence\, and find out if he can really come home. With Stephen Collins as the funny\, damaged\, scheming Odysseus and Poornima flowing nimbly between Penelope\, Calypso\, Circe\, the Cyclops and many more characters – this artistic\, playful\, searching adaptation explores the universal human needs that run through this ancient poem – from the desire to belong to the hunger for vengeance to the hope of a second chance. \nStephen Collins is an accomplished actor and literature professor\, with over 20 years experience performing solo theatre pieces and literature lectures across New England. Originally from Cambridge\, Ma\, Stephen studied English at UMass Boston and pursued a career in sales\, before returning to what he truly loves; performing and teaching. His solo shows include presentations on the life and writings of Herman Melville\, Walt Whitman\, William Shakespeare\, Robert Frost\, the theater of the 40s and 50s\, Irish Poets and more. His work with actress Poornima Kirby through New Muse Productions has reconnected him to the joy of collaborative theater. http://unlaunchedvoices.com/ \nPoornima Kirby is a classically trained actress\, writer and director\, based in Boston\, Ma\, specializing in classical and poetic texts\, as well as co-created theater. She studied drama at Vassar College\, and trained in acting and Shakespeare performance at Shakespeare & Co. and London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. She has performed regionally at the A.R.T.\,\nActors Shakespeare Project\, Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater\, and Bay Colony Shakespeare. She has also appeared in several independent films\, commercials\, industrials and voice-overs\, and has worked as a teaching artist in the Boston Public Schools\, Tufts Medical Center and Berklee College of Music.
