Lexington Human Services Highlights Mental Health Resources This May

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to shine a light on the importance of emotional well-being and to remind our community that support is always within reach.

In honor of this month, Lexington Human Services is encouraging residents to explore the wide range of mental health resources available on our website. The site features information on a variety of mental health topics, offering insights and guidance on everything from managing stress and anxiety to supporting loved ones and building emotional resilience.

Each topic area includes helpful tools and resources designed to meet individuals where they are—whether they’re looking to learn more or take action. Most importantly, the website outlines multiple ways to connect with mental health professionals, making it easier for residents to access the support they need.

Whether you’re ready to begin therapy or just exploring your options, the site provides guidance on how to take that next step.
One referral source to mention is community access to the William James INTERFACE Referral Service. Scan the QR code to the left for the website.
The William James INTERFACE Referral Service, offered through Freedman Center, is a mental health and wellness referral Helpline available 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays (excluding holidays).

Call (888) 244-6843 (toll-free). This is a free, confidential referral service for Lexington residents. Callers are matched with licensed mental health providers from their extensive database, on average, within 2 weeks of their call to INTERFACE. Each referral best meets the location, insurance, and specialty needs of the caller.

In addition, visitors can find contact information for Lexington Human Services staff, who are available to provide referrals, answer questions, and help navigate available services. Social workers are available by appointment. This May, let’s work together to break the stigma and prioritize mental health—for ourselves, for each other, and for our community. Visit the Lexington Human Services website to learn more and explore the many ways to get connected and supported.
