Aging in Place

Be Happy, Be Home. The Power of Community at Lexington at Home

What if aging in place didn’t mean slowing down—or going it alone?
That’s the energetic spirit behind Lexington at Home, a growing group of vibrant, engaged seniors who are choosing to stay in the homes and neighborhoods we love—while staying active, connected, and supported by a strong community of peers.

We’re entirely volunteer-run—neighbors helping neighbors, organizing fun, meaningful activities, and sharing resources that make independent living not just possible, but enjoyable.
We call it “aging in place”—but it is also about living with enthusiasm and doing it together.

A NEIGHBOR-LED, SELF-SUPPORTING NETWORK

Lexington at Home (or LAH) is powered by its members. We plan and lead the activities that matter most to us—there’s no paid staff, just a motivated group of people who genuinely enjoy collaborating and building a community where everyone feels welcomed and valued.

Some of our most rewarding interactions are simple yet impactful. When one member recently needed a ride to an eye doctor in Wellesley, she emailed a few fellow members. A response came back almost immediately—not only offering the ride, but also to wait during her appointment and bring her back home afterward.

In another case, a member noticed a few scrapes on his car and asked the group for reliable local repair shops. Within hours, he had several recommendations from fellow members, each with helpful tips and firsthand reviews.

These day-to-day moments reflect the essence of Lexington at Home: practical support, authentic connections, and the confidence that you’ve got people you can count on.

IT’S MORE THAN HELP—IT’S CONNECTION, FUN, AND ENERGY

Of course, LAH isn’t just about solving problems—it’s about making life richer, more vibrant, and more fun. Members regularly coordinate and enjoy:

  • Group outings to favorite local and international restaurants
  • Lively book clubs and movie discussions
  • Conversations about current events and timely topics
  • Walks, hikes, and seasonal strolls through nearby trails
  • Cozy potlucks and casual get-togethers in each other’s homes

If you’ve got an idea, great—run with it! If you just want to join in, that’s great too. There’s no pressure, only opportunity.

ALWAYS OPEN TO FRESH FACES AND NEW ENERGY

What keeps Lexington at Home dynamic is the enthusiasm and new ideas that every member brings. As more active seniors choose to age in place, we welcome those who want to be part of something vibrant, supportive, and evolving.

Whether you’re recently retired, semi-retired, or just ready to build deeper local connections, LAH offers a way to stay engaged, give back, and enjoy life—on your terms.
