Health and Wellness Series Led by Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy
Mondays February 10 – April 28th – No Class on February 17th or April 21st

Participate in engaging group activities to promote health and wellness!

This 10-week series will include sessions such as chair yoga, meditation, exercise, “oldies” music, trivia, strength and balance work, and more. The sessions will be led by Regis College Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy students Ben and Rosey as part of their level 1 fieldwork curriculum.

Occupational therapists use meaningful participation in occupations to improve health and quality of life. This encompasses leisure, play, work, social participation, and health management.

This series will use activities that have been proven to promote both physical and mental aspects of health while emphasizing social participation in a group setting as a vital component of well-being in aging populations. It will also provide Ben and Rosey with an important opportunity to build their group facilitation skills and put theoretical learning into practice as they take another step toward becoming practitioners. Join us for engaging and fun activities and to support their education by signing up for this series!

MEDITATION 101
One of the first 2 sessions will be run by Jake. Ben and Rosey will observe how a class is run and they can shadow and learn how to run a class.
This Meditation 101 session is designed for beginners and intermediate meditators who may feel uncertain about how to meditate or what to do during a session. We’ll explore the three essential elements that form the foundation of every meditation practice, and why the breath is used as a powerful anchor. In addition, we’ll debunk common myths about meditation and address misconceptions that can hold people back from starting or maintaining their practice. Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences, which is a valuable part of learning and growing in meditation. Whether you’re just starting or looking to deepen your practice, this session will provide clarity, guidance, and support in your meditation journey.

One of the first 2 sessions will be run by Moe—she she is a regular here at the Community Center. She teaches a multitude of classes including chair fitness and other classes.
