VIRTUAL – Seed Starting 101

with LexFarm’s Allison Ostrowski

MORE INFORMATION

Wednesday, May 67:00—8:00 PMVirtual

Learn from an experienced organic farmer all about starting veggies, herbs and flowers from seed! We’ll talk through the basics: How to select seeds and when to plant them. What types of seeds will grow well in your yard, or out on your deck/balcony based on the type of soil and available light conditions. How to protect small seedlings from pests. How to avoid common beginner mistakes. Which plants thrive easily, and which are fussy, needing more attentive care at the start.

Allison will provide tips on seed sources (such as Cary’s new seed library!), planting methods, and irrigation. This workshop is designed for beginner gardeners wanting to gain skills and confidence, and there will be plenty of time for questions!

Allison Ostrowski managed the greenhouse at LexFarm for several years where she grew hundreds of thousands of seedlings before launching her own independent garden care and massage practice.  Allison believes growing food at home is a rewarding way to care for ourselves and each other and she wants to help!
